Sunshine Coast Beaches
Discover Noosa - the pride of the Sunshine Coast.
Noosa Beaches are some of Queensland’s best, so head for the following great destinations for a dip in the ocean.
Coolum Beach
Situated between Noosa Heads and Maroochydore, Coolum Beach is popular with surfers. The beach is patrolled here, so look for the flags and swim between them. This growing resort town has several good dining options.
Noosa’s main beach, set on Laguna Bay, is the idyllic family beach where generally calm seas and gentle swells make for good swimming. Around towards the headland are a series of surfing points that attract surfers of all grades. The beach is patrolled. Alexandria Bay, accessible only by walking trails through Noosa National Park, is clothes optional. The beach is not patrolled and swimming is not recommended.
Peregian Beach, set beside the quiet little beach town of the same name, offers good surfing conditions and is patrolled. The beachside park is popular with families and hosts a monthly market. Nearby shops have several good cafes.
The next beach south of Sunshine Beach, Sunrise has similar surf conditions. Just south is Marcus and then Castaways Beach. These beaches are not patrolled, so swimming is not advised.
Noosa’s most popular surf beach, Sunshine Beach, has superb beach breaks when the conditions are right. The rocky headland provides protection from north winds. Currents here can be strong, so swim between the flags and heed all warnings.
