NOOSA ACTIVITIES
Enjoy some of the many sight seeing options for getting out
and about in Noosa and its beautiful surrounding region.
Bicycling
Noosa Bike Hire (5474 3322) has a large range of rental bikes
from kids bikes right through to adult’s mountain bikes.
Bikes can be delivered direct to the resort. They also offer
an exciting mountain bike tour through hinterland terrain
Bushwalking
The ecological and scenic delights of Noosa National Park
are only half-an-hour’s walk from the resort. The Noosa
Trail Network offers a series of long hinterland walks based
around the charming country villages of Kin Kin and Cooran.
Camel Safari
Set off on a 2-hour beach and bushland safari on Noosa’s
North Shore (5442 4402).
Canoeing and Kayaking
The Noosa River is ideal for these sports and the Aussie Sea
Kayak Company (5477 5335) offers a full-day, half-day or sunset
paddle.
Diving
Learn to scuba dive or join a diving expedition to view the
underwater marine life (5455 6488).
Everglades Cruise
Choose from a lunch or afternoon cruise (5447 1838) upstream
to the headwaters of the Nossa River, via Lakes Cooribah and
Lake Cootharaba. Along the way you get an expert commentary,
take a walk along the lake’s edge and see a variety of
waterbird life.
Ferry Cruise
Cruise the protected waters of the Noosa River on the Noosa
Ferry (5449 8442). Stops include Noosa Harbour, the Yacht Club
and Noosa Wharf. The ferry departs Noosa Heads behind the Sheraton
Hotel.
Fishing
You can fish from the local beaches, in the river or offshore
by charter vessel. Offshore fishing expeditions depart regularly
from Noosa Harbour (5442 4919). Fishing from the beaches at
Fraser Island is another option.
Gondola Cruise
Cruise the Noosa River in comfort in a Venetian inspired gondola
(0412 929 369). Suits couples, but will seat up to six people.
Golf
Noosa Springs (5440 3333), just 3km from Hastings Street,
is the district’s premier championship course, while the
9-hole Noosa Valley Country Club (5449 1311) course has been
described by Australian Golf Digest as ‘a golfing gem’.
Kabi Golf Farm (5485 3494), at Cootharaba, features an 18-hole,
par 3, organic golf course.
Health and Fitness
Noosa has many health spas and several gyms.
Houseboat Hire
The Noosa River can be enjoyed from the comfort of a houseboat
hired from Noosa Leisuretime Houseboats (5449 8222).
Laguna Lookout
Feeling fit? Take a walk up Viewland Drive (off Noosa Drive)
to this great vantage point with its views over Noosa, the hinterland
and out to sea.
Ocean Adventure
The thrilling way to see the river, ocean and Lake Cooribah
is by Oceanrider, a purpose-built, high-powered boat (1800 001
386).
Sailing and Boating
Sailing clubs at Noosaville and Boreen Point hold sailing
regattas. At both destinations a range of sail and motor powered
boats are available for hire.
Tennis
Tennis Noosa (5447 3544) at Sunrise Beach has 10 floodlit
courts and equipment hire.
Surfing
Noosa’s main beach and points around the east of Laguna
Bay are handy. The beaches from Sunshine Beach towards Coolum
Beach are all fine alternatives. No one is too old to learn
to surf! Local instructors at Noosa Surf Lessons (0412 330 850)
teach you the ropes and before long they’ll have you standing
up on a board.
Swimming
Take your pick from the resort pool, local surf beaches or
the Noosa River.
